Basic Courses are held over 8 weeks, CGC prep over 6 weeks, one 1 hour class a week. Students get access to the private student’s FaceBook page, video recaps on how to teach cues and are welcome to contact Give a Sit at any time they have questions. New students also receive a “Welcome to the Pack” goodie bag.
Single Behavior Classes (behavior modification and BAT) are done by the hour. Take as many classes as you and your dog need to help change or teach a single behavior.
All of Give a Sit’s courses include an education in dog body language. Training is about mutual communication. If we are going to teach our dogs how we communicate we also need to learn how they communicate.

Behavior Modification Training
Behavior Modification classes are designed for those more challenging behaviors. Separation anxiety, resource guarding, aggression, pulling on the lead, and excessive energy are just a few of the behaviors the team can help modify.
These are individual classes. There is no course layout, but rather a fully individualized plan for the dog’s specific needs. Each class comes with a personalized write-up on what we covered in class and what homework is to be done.

FearFree Training: Reduce the Fear of Vet Trips, Grooming & More!
Many dogs find the vet’s office and grooming appointments to be scary, to say the least. Many owners hold off on such critical care for their pets because of how fear-filled these appointments can be. With a FearFree certified professional such as Elle, we can help prepare your dog for a less fearful experience. We can even assist during a vet trip or grooming appointment. Giving guardians the tools needed for cooperative care, handling, medication administration, nail trimming, brush-outs, bathing, and much more.
These classes are done for the individual. Since each pet is different we will personalize your training to exactly what your pet needs. This includes a detailed write-up and handouts after each training session. Classes are held for one hour once a week for however many weeks your pet needs. Elle highly encourages victory visits to vets and groomers for puppies who are yet to experience an appointment and for older dogs who are working on building positive experiences.

REACTIVITY
It’s what Give A Sit specializes in!
Does your dog bark, lunge, pull and just seem to lose their mind when they see a trigger? There’s a range of triggers, but the most common are other dogs, people, and cars/bikes riding by. If that sounds like what you’re observing from your dog, we have the program for you! Reactivity is what Give a Sit Dog Training holds dearest. Reactivity can be scary and embarrassing, frustrating for both humans and dogs. Our trainers won’t suppress the behavior but truly help change the emotional response that is at the core of these big outbursts.
What reactivity is and why it occurs
The forms of management that help avoid reactions
How to get out of the emergency situations
How to change how your dog feels, which is what changes the behavior.

Puppy Prep Obedience
The Puppy Prep Basic Obedience course is designed for a well-rounded education for puppies. All the basic cues are taught at the pace a puppy can handle, short amounts of time with play and enrichment sprinkled in. The course focuses heavily on creating positive associations with all the new things they will be experiencing as they grow. It also helps puppies overcome common fears such as the crate, leashes, equipment, and other fears like the dreaded vacuum. We also want to set up puppies early for good leash skills and manners, teaching good behaviors before they can learn the less desirable ones like puppy nipping and jumping. And of course, potty training 101.

Basic Obedience
Cues, mental and physical enrichment, corrections, and proofing. Each class starts with learning a new cue such as sit, down, stay, come, focus, leave it, take it, and drop it. These are the tools used to help navigate what we want our dogs to do in everyday life. In the middle of each class, we go over corrections, ways to stop behaviors such as excess barking, pulling on the lead, door dashing, and much more! And finally, we end with fun stuff. Fun tricks like shake, spin, and wave to help boost your dog’s confidence and give you something to show off to your friends. Fun stuff also includes lots of fun games to keep your dog entertained and mentally enriched.

Advanced Communication CGC Prep
This six-week course is a perfect follow-up to puppy prep or basic obedience. We will help build strong communication between you and your dog in new environments so that your dog can generalize cues in the world outside of the home. Alongside building strong responses to cues in new environments, your dog will also learn life skills for good behavior around new people, other dogs, and distractions. This course is set to the standard of the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. After practicing all requirements for CGC, students get to have one practice test at the end of the course, allowing pet parents to feel confident if they choose to test for the CGC title.
Courses can be taken in a group setting or individually.
$350 for Group Course -or- $450 for Individual Course
